Staff Application
Trace Fossils Review is seeking a social media manager and submission readers for our poetry and prose categories. We are a quarterly literary magazine publishing primarily online, with one print anthology released each year. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and welcoming community of readers, whose contributions to our magazine are integral to its continued successes.
If you’re interested in becoming member of our staff, please fill out the form below and share 2-3 pieces of your work with us. You will find descriptions of each role below. We are accepting staff on a rolling basis, and will inform applicants of their status as soon as possible. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Please note that the Trace Fossils team is made up of volunteers, so we are unable to provide compensation at this time.
Readers are responsible for reviewing poetry, fiction, and nonfiction from the editor’s first round of submissions for each of Trace Fossils Review’s four quarterly issues. They should have taken classes or coursework on their respective genres and have background experience with the literary world. Submissions are assigned four times throughout the calendar year, with each reading period holding roughly seven weeks to review given assignments. Weekly commitments amount to 1 to 5 hours per week, depending on genre. While being a Reader with us is a primarily self-paced position, we require timeliness in responding to Head Editors and occasional participation in promotional events, such as the yearly release of the Trace Fossils Anthology.
The Social Media Manager spearheads marketing and promotional material for Trace Fossils Review. We’re searching for someone with a key eye for design, a love of good one-liners, and the wish to identify the next generation of resonant artists and writers. Commitments range from content design to timely social media posts to generative meetings with our Web Editor and our Editor-in-Chiefs. Applicants should have an extensive background with Instagram and design softwares, and should be self-motivated, extremely adherent to deadlines, and eager to contribute ideas to the Trace Fossils staff. Time commitments range from 4-6 hours a week, including meetings with our staff.
